After our three weeks in Burma, we needed some time to recharge our batteries. Our plan was initially to go to southern Thailand and visit Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta. Nature threw a curve ball and has sent powerful storms in that direction, causing severe flooding in all southern islands. People had to evacuate and no tourists could go there. Instead, we went east, and ended up on the beautiful small island of Koh Mak.
The island was flat, our hotel mostly deserted, the pool beautiful, the view on the bay superb, and the white sand beaches quiet and relaxing. We lounged around, caught up on real world matters, booked flights for the Phillippines, and relaxed as hard as we could.
